SourceBlue partnered with Yale New Haven Health Systems to deliver a prefabricated emergency power plant for Bridgeport Hospital. This 4,300 sq. ft. modular structure was designed and constructed offsite, providing a cost-efficient, high-quality, and rapidly deployable solution that streamlined installation and improved coordination.
Seamless Coordination: The power plant’s underground system included over 350 concrete-encased conduits. Offsite modular construction allowed the team to precisely locate each conduit penetration, resulting in a flawless onsite installation.
Cost Efficiency: The prefabricated enclosure system generated substantial savings compared to a traditional field-built approach.
Schedule Advantage: Prefabrication enabled early testing, faster installation, and reduced onsite labor hours.
Scope of work included the following:
Structure: 4,300 sq. ft. building with a 21” steel base, insulated aluminum walls, and a metal panel roof system.
Mechanical: Six (6) 6-ton air handling units, exhaust fans, and a complete fuel oil pump and control system.
Electrical: Two (2) 2000kW generators, eight (8) 1600A ATS units, a 10,000A paralleling switchgear, and a 4000A double-ended substation—all installed offsite.
Fire Protection: FM 200 detection and suppression system integrated within the modular build.
