Project Milestone: Sacramento's Resources Building Renovation Project

01 Feb 2024 News

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the renovation of the Resources Building, a pivotal project aimed at transforming this historic 657,000 square-foot facility. Originally constructed in 1964, the renovation will see the complete demolition of the interior and exterior façade, paving the way for a sustainable and resilient 17-story office space that honors the building’s original qualities. Our targets include achieving LEED Silver certification and Net Zero Energy.

SourceBlue has been integral to this progressive design-build initiative, providing comprehensive procurement and supply chain management services. Our project management efforts encompassed the development of equipment scope to meet our target value design, soliciting multiple vendor proposals, bid leveling, and evaluation of the lowest compliant bids. Additionally, we handled contract administration, submittal preparation, schedule management, coordination, start-up, commissioning assistance, and warranty services.

The scope of our work includes critical equipment such as security turnstiles, advanced lighting systems, electrical distribution equipment, an emergency generator, and a sophisticated HVAC system featuring semi-custom air handlers, active chilled beams, and various pumps and heat exchangers. We’re also focusing on architectural enhancements, including casework.

A particularly exciting achievement was the recent installation of the first of two 60,000 CFM Daikin Applied Americas air handlers. This accomplishment reflects the months of coordination and collaboration among a diverse team of partners, including the California DGS, Turner Construction, AC Martin, Glumac, Southland Industries, NormanSWright, and Lawson Drayage, who ensured the seamless execution of the delivery sequence and crane operations.
