SourceBlue leveraged volume purchasing and competitive pre-purchase strategies across major MEP and electrical packages to reduce the original $27.9 million equipment budget to a $19.6 million award, delivering $8.27 million in savings, or approximately 30%. Early procurement of CEP chillers ahead of refrigerant changes generated an additional $1 million in savings, while coordinated procurement, release-to-fabrication controls, and factory witness testing helped improve lead-time certainty and mitigate schedule risk.
Supporting Nationwide Children’s Hospital expansion through strategic MEP procurement
SourceBlue supported the development of a new inpatient hospital tower at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, enabling the relocation and expansion of critical clinical departments, including neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, hematology/oncology, surgery, and emergency services. The project also included expansion of the central energy plant to increase chilled water, boiler, and emergency power capacity, along with loading dock upgrades and construction of a below-grade parking structure with direct tunnel and elevator connections to the tower.
